Seascale
Golf Club Founded in 1893, the course covers less
than a hundred acres without giving the impression of one hole encroaching
on another. Whilst not long by modern standards, Seascale encompasses
a varied terrain at different levels without testing the golfer's fitness.
It rises on the 1st and continues down the inland side of the course.
The 3rd provides the first panoramic view from a high tee, as the course continues northwards until the par five 7th turns in the opposite direction. The 8th is a long par three followed by the 9th, the only hole played directly towards the sea. Driving from a high tee, the line is straight at the Isle of Man. |

Silverdale
Golf Club
The course is a Par 70 – 5592 yards and is of two halves, open
parkland and tight narrow valleys with heath land and limestone pavement.
From each hole there are delightful views, abundant flora and birdlife.
The early morning golfer may be joined by roe and fallow deer. It is
home to the rare Ladies Slipper orchid. It is an exciting course and
one in which boredom never sets in. As the course is on limestone the
drainage is good so we rarely close in poor weather. Silverdale Golf Club’s 18 hole course is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and also one of a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It has wonderful views across the RSPB Nature Reserve to Morecambe Bay and to the Lakeland and Howgill Fells. |

Silloth
on Solway Golf Club Situated on the north west coast
of Cumbria, Silloth on Solway Golf Club is blessed with stunning views
of the Galloway Hills to the north, and south to the Lakeland fells
and the distant Isle of Man. The Championship links of over 6,641 yards
has been laid out over the sand-hills west of town, touched by some
of the great classical golfarchitects, but mostly moulded by Nature
herself. Hazards consist of heather and bent; whin and broom; heroic
bunkers and sandy wastes. Fairways are always wider than they seem from
the tee, and having been laid with springy Cumberland turf, invite courageous
fairway woods and crisp iron shots. Greens are subtle, firm, fast, and
deadly true. |
